UrbanAcoustic’s
founders, Terry Meigel and Joe August, are long-time friends
and long-time musicians. They’ve performed together literally
hundreds of times, from local acoustic gigs, to Long Island’s
hottest clubs (Mulcahy’s, CPI, Claudio’s), and in
New York City’s most renowned music venues (The Bitter End,
The Wetlands, and CBGBs). The two frontmen bring an enormous
amount of enthusiasm to the music. On stage, their
experience together is marked by strong vocals, rich harmonies,
a diverse library of solid material, and their unique and complimentary guitar
work.
The
acoustic/electric duo teamed up with Mike Eklund on percussion.
Mike and Joe were former band-mates in the popular Long Island
Omnipop band, Funhouse. Mike is clearly the smartest and most talented percussionist on the planet. The choices he makes behind the kit are always so fitting to the music and the current mood. He's added so much to the band's sound. But no one quite knows how he makes it sound as if there are 3 people on percussion.
In April 2009, the band lucked out when they found Arron Dicesare through Craig's List. Arron on bass guitar turned out to be the perfect addition to the band. His attention to detail and outstanding musical choices re-shaped their sound over the past year.
Together
at last, this four-piece
has unbelievable chemistry both on and off the stage. Great friendships have evolved from the music they share which makes the task of making music itelf a cinch. Four-minds, one sound!
UrbanAcoustic
has captured something quite distinct by combining an unplugged
feel with a full band sound. Strong musicianship, intense energy,
a diverse repertoire, unique sound, and professional attitudes
allow UrbanAcoustic to fit into any situation.
